# A sequence needs its own explanation

Position & restorative goals

Lesson 03 · Follow the agreed arrangement

See how Avery's fictional choice becomes a particular order of conversations and separate responsibilities. The order belongs to this example and is not a rule for other people.

A fictional example teaches how to read a proposal. Your clinicians explain your individual assessment and options.

## A stated purpose does not supply a sequence

Once you understand the purposes of two proposed approaches, there is another question: what has actually been agreed? An explanation of movement and an explanation of a new restoration do not, by themselves, tell you whether either has been chosen or how their decisions relate.

The next step in reading a real proposal is to follow its particular stated arrangement. It should be possible to distinguish a decision already made from a later conversation still open. The individual clinicians explain any clinical relationship; a general guide cannot set a universal order.

## The complete fictional arrangement

Continuing the same example, suppose Avery and the fictional clinicians have now explicitly agreed to pursue the individually assessed orthodontic position/bite goal. The orthodontist takes responsibility for explaining that orthodontic course and reviewing it. The agreed next conversation about the new veneer is with Avery's dentist after the orthodontist's stated review point. No date or clinical review criterion is specified by this example.

Avery has not accepted a restorative procedure. In this fictional arrangement, the later dental conversation will revisit whether Avery still wants to pursue the surface/shape priority and what, if anything, the dentist then proposes. The two clinicians have described that relationship for Avery; it is not inferred from the word veneer or from the existence of an orthodontic option.

For the example's service scope, the orthodontic proposal covers the orthodontic course as explained by the orthodontist. Restorative advice and any later restorative procedure are a separate dental service. No restorative provider affiliation, combined fee, included veneer or completion promise is part of the example.

## The finished reading: decided, ordered, still open

**Reading only what this particular arrangement states**

| Part of the arrangement | What Avery can understand |
| --- | --- |
| Decision already made | Pursue the individually assessed orthodontic position/bite goal. |
| Orthodontic responsibility | The fictional orthodontist explains and reviews that course. |
| Stated next restorative conversation | Avery's dentist revisits the surface/shape priority after the stated orthodontic review point. |
| Restorative decision still open | No restoration has been accepted; a later proposal and Avery's decision remain separate. |
| Service boundary | The orthodontic proposal does not establish restorative provision or combined fees. |

## The value is knowing why this order was agreed

The sequence is understandable because the example expressly supplies it. It would be a different example if the clinicians had agreed a different relationship or if Avery had made a different decision. The lesson is to read the actual arrangement, not to copy Avery's order.

For your own proposal, an unclear transition is a reason to return to the clinician's explanation: which agreed decision leads to the next conversation, who conducts it, and what remains conditional? That makes a real next step intelligible while keeping the eventual choice with you and your clinicians.

## Understand the orthodontic care being offered

SMILE\-FX's care model connects doctor\-led planning with follow\-ups, standard smartphone monitoring and individually arranged continuing care. Included fixed and removable retainers plus whitening belong in the full orthodontic treatment conversation and written proposal. They do not establish a restorative procedure or a combined restorative fee.

Use the Miramar consultation request to discuss the orthodontic part of your goals. The practice confirms individual arrangements. A request does not book a restorative appointment or establish that any particular course is appropriate.
